India tops the Asia-Pacific region in data center capacity
India has surpassed countries like Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and Korea in terms of data center capacity. Currently India's capacity in this sector is 950 MW. According to the report, India's capacity in the data center sector will increase by another 850 MW by 2026. This will further strengthen India's position in data center capacity in the Asia-Pacific region.
After India, Japan is second in the list with 892 MW of data center capacity, Australia is third with 773 MW, Singapore is fourth with 718 MW and Hong Kong is fifth with 613 MW. Through this, the growth of the data center industry at the global level has come to light.
According to a report published by CBRE, data centers are at the top of the list of preferred investment sectors in the Asia-Pacific region. The sector already has a record of significant investment by various global companies, housing sector developers and private equity.
The report also revealed that global interest in investing in India's data center sector is on the rise. Many of these groups have expressed interest in contracting with local level companies.
In the meantime, India's data center sector has confirmed investment commitments of $4 billion so far at the global and domestic levels. Through this, the country's ability to expand its data center activities and industrial sector has come to the fore.
